US Freight Rates Drop Sharply Amid New Tariffs
US-bound freight rates show sharp fluctuations amid new tariffs, says Transport Intelligence (Ti).
Far East–US rates plunged 24.1% MoM from $2,127.60 to $1,614/FEU, down 54.9% YoY from $3,456.40.
Trans-Atlantic rates fell 10.7% MoM, sliding from $1,799.40 to $1,607/FEU in October 2025.
Since April 2025, Trans-Atlantic rates dropped 24.1%, now 45.4% lower YoY than $2,944.80/FEU.
The fall follows Trump’s Oct 10 tariff hike, adding 100% over the existing 30% on Chinese imports.
