Sri Lanka Secures Zero-Tariff Access to UK Under DCTS from 2026
Under the UK’s DCTS, Sri Lanka will get zero-tariff access on all exports from 1 January 2026, including apparel and textiles.
Earlier, garments faced UK duties of 9.6%–12%, putting Sri Lanka at a disadvantage to Bangladesh and Cambodia.
The move, linked to the UK’s post-Brexit trade strategy, is seen as a historic export opportunity.
Zero tariffs are expected to boost competitiveness and attract buyers, especially in mid- to high-end and sustainable apparel.
Industry says gains depend on addressing cost pressures, skill gaps, and supply-chain efficiency.
