Global Cotton Prices Decline: Oct 2025 Overview

18 October 2025

Cotton prices weakened last month, with the Dec NY/ICE contract slipping below 66¢/lb and briefly under 65¢ before a slight recovery.

The A Index declined from 78¢ to 76¢, while China’s CC Index 3128B dropped from 98¢ to 94¢/lb (15,250 → 14,750 RMB/ton).

Indian Shankar-6 stayed steady near 78¢/lb, and Pakistani spot prices held around 68¢/lb.

Global trade and supply data were delayed due to the U.S. government shutdown (Oct 1), while mixed weather hit crops in China, India, and Pakistan.

Uncertainty over IEEPA tariff hearings and slower global GDP growth (3.2% in 2025, 2.9% in 2026) — with U.S. 1.8% and China 4.4% — may pressure cotton demand further.
